Etsy: What is it, How it Works & What Sellers Think About It

etsy selling and reviews

What is Etsy?

Etsy is a marketplace, like Amazon or eBay, for selling handmade goods, vintage items, fashion or craft supplies. It is a consumer-to-consumer platform that provides value to both buyers and sellers.

Buyers get to purchase unique, customized products that stand out, while crafters can make a decent amount of money.

The process of selling on Etsy is quite simple. First, create an Etsy account, provided you don't have one.

How Does Etsy Work?

Etsy is an online marketplace that connects sellers with buyers. It is primarily used for selling vintage items, handmade goods, art, and crafts. To sell on Etsy, you must create an account before you can open a storefront. Etsy charges $0.20 per listing, plus a 5% transaction fee when an item sells.

Reviews of Etsy and What Sellers Think?

Selling on Etsy is worth it in 2022 because it’s one of the quickest, cheapest, and easiest ways to get your handmade products online and hooked up with a shopping cart function. It’s also a low-risk option when compared to building a website. You can set up a professional-looking online shop in a matter of hours, list several items for just a few dollars, and not have to deal with domain and hosting fees.

Although you may not immediately reap the benefits of Etsy’s shoppers, your existing customers will immediately have a way to shop and buy from you.

As soon as your Etsy shop is set up and you have a few listings, you can share a link to it on social media or email it to friends and family, asking them to pass your link on to others.

It takes time to learn the ropes on Etsy and a certain amount of skill to get your listings to appear at the top of search results. But it takes much longer to get a new website to appear in the top search results of Google.

For these reasons, I believe Etsy is one of the best ways to sell handmade items, vintage items, or craft supplies online and is worth it for a craft business to start selling on while they work on building a website.

Of course, before you set up an Etsy shop, be sure you’re following the laws around operating a handmade business:
